BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:45 PM) - Turkey is ready to respond to Armenia's proposal to normalize relations, but only if Yerevan rejects his hostile attitude towards Ankara, said Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.

As Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told reporters on Wednesday, Armenia is ready to establish relations with Turkey without preconditions.

"If Armenia renounces its long-standing hostile position towards Turkey, its borders and its territorial integrity, and wants to open a new page, we will consider this and give an adequate response, taking into account the interests of our country," Yiildirim said.

"We do not want to disagree with anyone, especially the neighbors," Yildirim told reporters.

Currently there are no diplomatic relations between Turkey and Armenia.

The border between the two countries has been closed since 1993 on the initiative of Ankara.

The complicated relations between the two countries are caused by a series of circumstances connected, in particular, with the support of Ankara to the position of Azerbaijan in the Karabakh conflict and the acute reaction of Turkey to the process of international recognition of the Armenian genocide. 1915 in the Ottoman Empire.
